We made it home! I am at my mom & dad's - Jim is at his mom's for the moment. But we are here. It was a long...long trip - I am looking forward to seeing as many family and friends as I can while we are here.
Winter solstice...one of my yoga teachers celebrates the solstice in a special way. In winter, when the days start to get longer she thinks of something she would like to see increase in her life. At summer solstice, when days begin to shorten, she thinks of something she would like to see 'shrink' in her life. What a cool idea! New years resolutions two times a year...but with more of a focus on one thing ( and only for 6 months at a time!) This past summer, at the time of solstice, I decided Iwould like fear to become less of an influence in my life. I have thought about it often throughout the past 6 months as I have worked on letting go. And hey! Driving across the ice bridge to come home was a piece of cake.
Now it is winter solstice...and I have a few things I am thinking of to be my 'growing' focus...I will let you know what I decide on and how it goes......
In the meantime - I hope you are all enjoying this pre holiday time....Love to all.

Happy Birthday to me.....

I am having a nice day....we went out last night for fondue and creme brulee - unfortunately they were out of creme brulee... guess we will have to go back again real soon. We finished up the last of our Christmas shopping yesterday - at least the stuff we are going to get up here. The rest we will pick up back there were prices are not so high.
I am posting some pictures:
This is my office. The wall hanging, unfortunately, is not mine. A nice example of native art.
The pictures above are the project I am working on - I tried posting them down here but they went up there - too much trouble to repost...soooo....that is an appliqued wall hanging I am working on - designed by a local artist. It depicts the skyline of YK and the infamous raven. I have been having so much fun - I used all kinds of the different stitch cams on my machine and then I happened to pick up a book on beading on fabric at the book store and started in beading the dang thing. I feel like a little girl with a new coloring book. I have some additional plans on how I want to embellish it and then it gets quilted - it may take me all winter, but I don't care.
Here is Jims project: Well that pick went up there too...its the wine. Apparently I do not have this picture post part down very well... He just got the white wine bottled this afternoon.
And now - one more picture...Lets see where it goes.....hmmmmmm.....yup - that went up there too...maybe the secret is to put the pictures in first and write around them later...fellow bloggers? Anyway, that is the corner where I do my yoga. All my stuff is stored in that large footstool, and those are all my plants.....
Okay - I just previewed this and its all out of order. Think of it as a little puzzle to unscramble.

Soon...
it will be vacation! We are planning to leave on the 16th if all goes as planned. I hear that the ice road will be open on the Mackenzie river by that time - I was really hoping the ferry would still be running. I am told it takes about seven minutes to cross - this by another person not too keen on crossing a river by driving.
This past weekend we had our hospital Christmas party. The food was great and the dancing was fun - even if it was held in the not at all swanky Elk's club. People were all dressed up - fancy dresses and fur coats. I had on my long underwear and boots under my silk skirt - but it added to the fun. Saturday I had tickets for a brass quintet. Jim couldn't go because of work commitments, so I asked a girl from work. It was worth the ticket. They have a good concert series up here, and its nice to get out to do something different. Tonight our outing will take us the Department of National Defense, again. We have been invited ( or I should say Jim has, I get to tag along) to a Christmas reception by the Colonel......no, not that colonel - I think the food here will be fingerlickin' better. I think I am going to have to invest in some fancier clothes next year.
